The star of ITV’s Mr Selfridge is preparing to swap Chatham Dockyard for Leeds Castle.
Kelly Adams’s only experience of the county so far has been the Medway dockyard, which doubles as 1910 London, but that’s set to change when she takes part in the third Breast Cancer Care Pink Ribbonwalk.
The 35-year-old actress, who has also starred in the BBC’s Hustle and Holby City, will be stepping out with hundreds of others for the event on Saturday, June 20, with her mum, Sheila.
She is looking forward to mingling with her fellow walkers during the 10-mile route and is hoping she won’t get a frosty reception due to her “baddie” character in the ITV drama.
“I hope people will come and chat to me. I’m doing the walk with my mum, but I’m sure we will have a good chat with everyone.”
The pair were bitten by the Ribbonwalk bug last year when they took part in one in London.
“My mum didn’t think she could walk 10 miles.
“I have never been to Leeds Castle before and I’ve wanted to. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Her time on the ITV show has now ended, but she said of it: “I have loved it. It has been brilliant being on it. My character was a baddie, so to speak, but it was a great part to play.”
Her mini adventure in Kent will be a preamble to a bigger adventure she and husband Chris will be taking: travelling to Iceland, New Zealand, Nepal and Alaska.
The Pink Ribbonwalk has a five-mile route for families with children aged eight and older. Ten- and 20-mile courses are open to those aged 14 and older.
Participants must raise £100 in sponsorship and it costs £30 to register and £15 for under-18s. There is no minimum sponsorship for under-18s. Every participant receives an event pack, a Pink Ribbonwalk T-shirt, medal, hot meal and certificate.
