A dog that saved numerous lives as part of a search and rescue team has died.

Kent Search and Rescue announced that black and white Bryn had passed away after being part of the team for almost eight years.

A post on the group's Facebook page yesterday said: "It is with deep sorrow we must advise that tragically search dog Bryn passed away today.

Bryn came from Battersea Dogs Home and served the communities of Kent well for nearly eight years.

"He taught the next generation of search dogs and was genuinely amazing to watch work (if you could keep up with him!).

"He saved numerous lives in Kent and will be sorely missed by the whole Kent Search and Rescue team. Bryn will be missed by everyone and our thoughts go out to his handler and mum. Time to rest now."

Bryn even featured in a book written about the dogs at Battersea.

Kent Search and Rescue, Kent Online's charity of the year for 2015, is a member of charitable organisation ALSAR (The Association of Lowland Search and Rescue).

The team of volunteers is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to search for vulnerable missing people including children; elderly, confused, depressed or suicidal people; those suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's; or victims of crime.

Teams can search in all terrains and as well as the dog unit they have groups with mountain bikes and boats.
