A crash between two cars on a motorway in rush hour traffic today has triggered an emergency service response.

The accident happened at about 4pm on the M2 westbound after J4 near Gillingham, forcing two lanes to close.

They were lanes two and three according to CCTV cameras, which also show police and the ambulance service at the scene.

One man was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

This is a separate accident from the collision on the eastbound carriageway.

The M2 was also been closed coastbound because of a multi-vehicle crash.

It happened just before Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone.
