A RAILWAY worker has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after being struck by a train.

The 1pm Maidstone East to Victoria service hit the Network Rail worker near the London terminal at 2.15pm.

Emergency services treated the man at the scene, before transferring him to the Royal London Hospital.

The Maidstone to Victoria line was closed temporarily in both directions but services have now returned to normal.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch is currently conducting an investigation.

British Transport Police is not treating the incident as suspicious.
