A teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in a public park.

The 18-year-old victim was walking through Mote Park, Maidstone, when she was attacked at about 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The teen managed to fight the man off and run away.

She told police her attacker was acting suspiciously before he struck.

The suspect is about 50 years old, white, with grey hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt and was carrying a black rucksack.

Dete Cons Paul Gavin said: “The park was no doubt very busy at the time due to the good weather, and we are hopeful that someone may have seen the man and can help us with our investigation.

"We have had a number of officers on patrol throughout the park and will continue our presence in the area.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Gavin on 01622 604265, quoting crime reference YY/13347/12.

Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
