Detectives are on the hunt for the driver of a stolen car which was driven into the front of a High Street beauty shop causing damage.
Police were called to West Malling High Street at around midnight yesterday after a Volkswagen Passat was driven into the front of Aphrodite’s hair, tanning and beauty salon.
Jacqui Steel, owner of the shop, turned up to work yesterday to find a hole in her front wall and a note from police officers to tell her what had happened.
She said: “I got into work and the front of the shop was damaged. Apparently there were two men who had a stolen car and drove it through West Malling.
“They got out of the car and it went into the front of my shop. There is a hole where the impact was and I had to clean it up. There was a lot of debris.”
Investigators remained at the scene of the shop yesterday and are working to track down the driver and any passengers that may have been in the car at the time.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We were called at 12.10am on Saturday to reports a car had collided in West Malling High Street, causing damage to the front of a shop.
“The vehicle, a VW Passat, is suspected to have been stolen and was found by police abandoned at the scene. Inquiries are ongoing to locate the driver and any passengers.”
