A sound mixer from Harrietsham has won a BAFTA for his work on The X Factor.

Robert Edwards was part of a production team which beat rivals The Voice, The Apprentice and Strictly Come Dancing to the coveted Craft Award.

Now in his 40th year of working in broadcast sound, Mr Edwards has previously won a BAFTA for Sound in 1991, and has been BAFTA-nominated several times before.

Currently he is working on Britain’s Got Talent for ITV, Celebrity Juice for ITV2 and recently mixed the Michael MacIntyre Easter Special for BBC1.

“I’m honoured that BAFTA have recognised the skills of my sound-team in making the X Factor such a success,” he said.

“On these live shows it really is dedicated team-work of the highest order. I’m really lucky that I get paid for doing my hobby and having such fun.”

Mr Edwards and business partner Ian Rosam run Video Sound Services Limited, based in Tunbridge Wells, and also provide mixing services to Sky for Premier League Football, as well as consultancy for many high profile world events including the FIFA world Cup, and the Olympic Games.
