There’s good news for commuters after Southeastern announced it is adding extra train services.
There will be an extra train between Maidstone East and Charing Cross which will leave at 7.43am and arriving at 8.47am.
The service will call at West Malling, Borough Green and Wrotham, Otford, Swanley, London Bridge and Waterloo East.
In addition, there will be an extra train leaving Ashford at 6.44am and arriving at Cannon Street at 7.58am. It will call at Headcorn, Staplehurst, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and London Bridge.
The high speed service between Faversham, the Medway Towns and St Pancras will also be restored to two trains per hour.
Southeastern’s operations director Scott Brightwell said: “We’re committed to providing a better, more reliable, and sustainable railway, and we’re continuing to listen to your feedback about our services.”
Cllr Ian Chittenden, the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for transport at County Hall, said: “This is certainly good news, especially for commuters in Maidstone.
“We have been campaiging for this for a long while, including gathering a petition of over 400 signatures.
“It’s good that the rail company has finally listened.”
Southeastern is also improving its rolling stock and all High Speed and mainline trains will have LED lighting and seat power sockets by the end of the year.
