Sports stars of the future from Maidstone have been praised at a special awards night.
Maidstone council's Youth Sport Achievement Awards, supported by the Kent Messenger, were held on Friday at Maidstone Leisure Centre.
The event was attended by the mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Denise Joy and Millwall footballer Danny Spiller, formerly of Gillingham.
As well as the prize-giving there films of the Kent School Games and the Paralympics,and displays by the Flair School of Dance, and the Pegasus Gymnastics Club.
The winners were: Junior individual U12: Lauren Lethbridge. Junior individual U15: Courtney Tulloch. Junior team: the Sandling Boys’ Football Team. Senior individual: Alexander Torbica. Senior team: Morgan Hellen and Tim Grant. Outstanding Personal Achievement: Alexandra Adams. Outstanding Youth Service to Sport: Leanne Clark. Best primary school: tied first East Borough and Allington. Best secondary school: Maplesden Noakes.
Training grants presented by Rotary Club of the Weald of Kent: Amy Ellson, Soloman Payne, Jonathan Hewat , Ashley Ulph and Ian Payne.
