The stars of the future were saluted for a year of outstanding success at the Maidstone Youth Sport Achievement Awards.

Nominees, friends and families gathered at the Astor of Hever School last Friday to see 11 awards handed out in a celebration of excellence and dedication.

Promising rower Morgan Hellen won the Senior Individual award ahead of fellow rower Laura Paine and decathlete Martin Brockman.

Gymnast Courtney Tulloch was the Junior Individual 15 and under winner, with rower Ross Porter in second place and another up and coming gymnast, Lauren Lethbridge, in third.

Verity Adams took home the Junior Individual 12 and under award for her swimming exploits, with Megan Tomlin (gymnastics) and Andrew Collins (rowing) completing the top three. This year’s new award, the Maidstone Disability Sports Award, went to wheelchair tennis champion Ian Payne.

The Kent Messenger Service to Sport Award was won by Westree Boxing Club.
