A pop princess from Maidstone will compete alongside Emeli Sandé, Wiley, Rudimental and Charlie Brown at the European Urban Music Awards next month.

Alexandra Buggs and her band Stooshe have been nominated in three categories - artist of the year, best female act and best R&B act.

Past winners from the awards evening include Beyonce, Rhianna, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and Adele.

Alongside Laura Mvula, her group have received the most nominations for the night, which will take place in a private location in London on Friday, November 22.

Alexandra grew up in Chart Sutton, attended Invicta Grammar School and regularly visits her parents in Wateringbury.

Stooshe are up against Michael Kiwanuka, Wiley, Rudimental, Fuse ODG and Laura Mvula in the artist of the year category.

Competition for the best female act includes Emeli Sandé, Little Nikki and Laura Mvula once again.

Maverick Sabre, Charlie Brown, Benny Bizzy, Mike Hough, Daley and Jacob Banks are also in contention for the best R&B act.

“We have an eclectic list of nominees who are consistently breaking new boundaries and quickly becoming household names not just in the UK but also within Europe, America and Asia.”
