Fremlin Live, organised in conjunction with kmfm and MidKent College, featured performances from five local bands, battling it out to win a recording session at kmfm’s studios and play at Fremlin Walk’s Christmas light switch-on event.

There were also exclusive discounts on production of a valid NUS card from retailers including Claire’s Accessories, Hotel Chocolat, Oasis, Costa Coffee, Office, Rush Hair, Schuh, Stormfront, Superdry, The Body Shop, Topshop and Topman, who opened late for the occasion.

The event was presented by kmfm Breakfast Show duo Rob Wills and Emma Saint, and more than 100 youngsters attended.

Kirstyn Read, radio sales manager, said: "It was a really cold night, so we were really pleased by the number of people who came along to support the event. The students all seemed to have a great time, and it was a great opportunity for local bands to be given a platform to perform."

All the groups who performed are being featured on Fremlin Walk’s website, with viewers invited to vote for their favourite. The one with the most votes will perform at the light switch-on in Maidstone on November 22.
