The Indian summer we were promised by weathermen arrived yesterday. But as shoppers and workers basked underneath glorious sunshine they were warned it could last just one day.
Cafes, restaurants and bars in Maidstone town centre were busy, especially ones with pavement tables and chairs or beer gardens as punters made the most of the grand finale of what turned out to be a fairly respectable summer, weatherwise.
Temperatures touched 27 degrees mid afternoon but were predicted to be down to 21 today (Wednesday) and considerably cooler as we approach the weekend.
Parks like Brenchley Gardens, pictured, were full of workers enjoying their lunches while school children just back after the holidays were encouraged to keep well hydrated during classes.
