The sun is out and it feels like summer has arrived, even though it is actually still spring.
I have been looking for warm weather for long time, like most of the people, writes Brazilian work experience student Daniela Petroski, but for me, a Brazilian girl used to hot temperatures, the last couple of days have been a great gift after a long winter.
It’s just like being in Brazil with temperatures above 25C and people are spending more time outside.
To have an idea how people are spending their time in the sunny days, photographer Matt Reading and I went to the Brenchley Gardens in Maidstone to check out what they are doing.
“We just finished work and are enjoying the sun and having cold drink. Later on we are going to Mote Park to spend the rest of the day”, Jessi Glasspool, 18, and Sarah Doron, 20.
“We’re doing revision for our exams next month and at the same time enjoying the sun and getting tanned. It is a relief to have the sun out after a long winter”, said Lucy Holliday, 17, out in the gardens with friends Ruth Kelly, 18, and Lucy Thomas, 18.
“We finished school today and decided to come to the park to enjoy the sun and get tanned”, said Becca Taylor, 18, and Lizzae Croucher, 18.
“ It is good weather to work outside, after the long winter, it’s good to be warm. I’ll finish work soon and I’ll be cycling to make most of my day and keep fit”, said Trevor Brockway, 62.
“I don’t mind the weather like this but I don’t like it too hot,” said Mark Rumbla, 42. “As soon as I finish work I am going to chill out in my garden.”
“It is wonderful! We have to get out and make the most of it as English weather can change at any time. The sun lifts the mood and people are more communicative,” said Angela Geeson, 62.
“After a long winter it’s nice to have hot weather. I came here from London to spend the weekend with my relatives. We have been on a river boat and to the museum. Steve-Lee and I are thinking of moving to Maidstone. It’s a nice place,” said Donna Brayfield, 39, out with Steve-Lee Brayfield, six, and Shane Doyle, 41.
