A man is set to appear in court charged with a shop burglary.
Police were called at 2.45am on Thursday to reports of an intruder at a convenience store in Union Street.
Officers attended and discovered a rear door had been forced open. Cash, cigarettes and alcohol were reported to have been stolen.
At around 3am a suspect was found close to the scene and arrested.
Charles Traverso, 43 and of no fixed address, was later charged with burglary.
He was remanded in custody to appear, via virtual link, before Medway Magistrates' Court.
