Temporary traffic lights at Grove Green will operate at restricted times after contributing to rush hour chaos on Detling Hill this morning.

Drivers using the Maidstone bound A249 were stuck in traffic for at least an hour with queues at one point stretching back past the Stockbury roundabout.

Three way signals are in force in New Cut Road outside Maidstone Studios until Friday while UK Power Networks installs cabling.

Queues stretched back onto the A249 and disrupted the roundabout for the M20 at junction 7.

In light of the delays, a spokesman for Kent County Council said the lights will now operate from 9.30am to 3.30pm at the junction with Grovewood Drive north.
