The jolly Keg-Megs sing together again

They were one big family and members of the Kent Messenger's
former young readers proved they could be again at a reunion,
organised by the KM, last week.

The climax of the afternoon, held at The Exchange in Maidstone,
was a singalong to the Keg-Meg Song, written in 1930.

With accompaniment from the Jim Hawkins Trio, the former
Keg-Megs who attended the event sang the song which hasn't been
heard for some years.

The original record, a 78, was on show as part of a display of
memorabilia, which was added to by guests during the day.

The afternoon also featured the musical talents of Brian Howard,
who regularly provides the music for monthly tea dances, and the
cutting of a commemorative cake, supplied by Loose-based Creative
Cakes.

Watch our video of a rousing chorus of the Keg-Meg song, led by
Jim Hawkins.
