Thieves stole an 87-year-old man's bag as he waited to cross the road in Maidstone.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the theft, which happened on Wednesday at 10.25am, as the man waited to cross the High Street, with the aid of walking sticks.
A brown hessian bag containing two bank books and a black purse was taken.
Investigating officer Det Con Debbie Prescott said: "The victim, an 87-year-old man from Maidstone, was walking with the aid of walking sticks from Earl Street, via Rose Yard and into the High Street when it is believed that a man took his bag and ran off down Gabriel’s Hill.
"We think he had an accomplice and that the pair had been watching the victim while they waited for an opportunity to take his bag.
"The town centre would have been busy at this time of day and I urge anyone who was out and about to cast their minds back to see if they can remember seeing the theft or recognise the description of the offenders.
"The victim wasn’t hurt but was shocked by the incident and we are keen to trace the culprits."
The first offender is described as about 6ft 2ins tall, of slim build, with short hair. He was wearing dark clothing, including a dark-coloured hoody, and dirty, white trainers. His accomplice was also wearing dark clothing and dark shoes or trainers and had dark hair.
