Three men have been arrested by police after a motorway pursuit.

Shortly after 4pm yesterday officers attempted to stop a vehicle believed to have been uninsured on the M20 coastbound, near Junction 8.

The vehicle did not stop initially but was pulled over following a short pursuit.

The driver was detained at the scene but his three passengers fled, reportedly running across the carriageway and into surrounding fields.

The National Police Air Service helicopter and sniffer dogs were deployed to search for the men, two of whom were later located and detained.

The third remains missing.

Officers carried out a search of the car which resulted in the three apprehended men - two aged 29 and one aged 23 - being arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft.

They remain in custody.
