A brazen driver who parked in front of a police camera van, shielding unsuspecting drivers from possible fines, has been applauded for his actions.
Roofer Dennis Richardson recorded the unknown "hero" sitting on top of his grey Nissan car in the lay-by at the bottom of Willington Street, Maidstone, on Sunday. (July 17)

The motorist posted the footage to TikTok and has since amassed more than 65,000 views and 2,000 likes.
In the video the anonymous man gave a wave to the camera and passings cars while smiling and blocking the speed camera after parking his car less than a metre away from the force's vehicle.
A police speed camera van is frequently found at the lay-by next to Mote Park and close to Downswood.
After Mr Richardson posted the video on the hit social media app on Monday, people were quick to praise the "absolute legend", with some joking he should get a medal.
One person said: "He saved someone's life doing that, someone who only had £100 left in the bank."
While another commented: "Not all heroes wear capes."
A fourth said the unknown man was doing the "Lord's work".
While other viewers hailed him an "absolute legend" and a "hero".
Speaking to the MailOnline Mr Richardson said: "I was literally driving up the road with my son and he was there, parked in front of the speed camera so we turned back round and had to film it.
"God knows how long he was there. I laughed, I thought, "that's brilliant"."
A police spokesman said: "On Sunday, July 17, a police van was briefly blocked in by a car in Willington Street, Maidstone, which had parked behind.
"After the driver was spoken to the car was moved. No criminal offences were identified and no further action was necessary."
