Child hit by car on A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone, between Tesco Express and Cherry Tree pub, discharged from hospital

A three-year-old who was hit by a car on a busy road has returned home from hospital.

The incident happened on A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone at around 12.15pm on October 16.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene, and the child was airlifted to King’s College hospital in London for treatment.

Now, it is understood the young boy’s injuries are not life-threatening and he has been discharged from hospital.

On the day of the incident, Tonbridge Road was closed from near the Esso Tesco Express to the Cherry Tree pub until 3.30pm.

Witnesses said the little boy was crossing the road towards Hambledon Court when he was hit.

The driver stopped at the scene.

One woman said: “Both the child’s mother and the driver were distraught.”

It is understood the police are not appealing for further witnesses.
