Tonbridge boss Tommy Warrilow says he never lost any confidence in his squad despite a run of three Ryman League, Premier Division matches without a win.

Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Cray, courtesy of Chris Piper’s eighth-minute header, ended the sequence but Warrilow said he could not understand why there had been some doom and gloom around Longmead.

The Angels boss, whose side are now up to 10th, said: "I’m fed up with everyone telling me that we’ve only won one in four. Have they forgotten the nine games before when we went unbeaten?

"I’ve been telling the lads that we’ve only lost over 90 minutes twice in the last 13 matches. I’ve not had to lift them at all. Everything within our dressing room is positive."

The win was the perfect pick-me-up after last Saturday’s 1-0 FA Trophy third qualifying round defeat at Blue Square Bet South side Welling. Luis Cumbers got the only goal on 59 minutes but Warrilow felt his side deserved a replay.

Angels take on third-placed Kingstonian on Saturday and Warrilow’s only doubt is Scott Gooding, who was replaced in the starting line-up by Sonny Miles at Cray after suffering soreness behind his knee at Welling.

The Tonbridge boss hopes to have Lewis Taylor available, while Jamie England could also be back after struggling with a groin injury.
