Tommy Warrilow has conceded defeat in Tonbridge’s chase for the Blue Square Bet South play-offs but doesn’t want the season to peter out.
Two Easter defeats – 3-2 at home to Dover on Saturday and 2-1 at leaders Woking on Monday – ended their outside chance of being in the end of season shake-up and the Longmead boss is now hoping to finish as high as possible in their first campaign at this level.
Warrilow (pictured) said: "We lost against two good sides but gave both a run for their money.
"A last-minute header beat us against Dover and Woking got an 83rd-minute winner on Monday, when we were down to 10 men after Lee Browning was sent-off. It hurt to come away with nothing.
"We still have something to play for, though and I am looking to finish above the two teams immediately above us, Boreham Wood and Dorchester, who we play in our final two games."
Reflecting on the season, Warrilow added: "It has been a great journey and when you see some of the big clubs, who have been in the league a long while that we have finished above, it shows you what we have achieved.
"We have learned on and off the pitch and it has been a real challenge but expectations will increase next season."
Rory Hill (back) is doubtful for the trip to Weston tomorrow (Saturday) while midfielder Robbie Kember looks set to miss the rest of the season after it was confirmed he has suffered a ruptured thigh muscle.
