Tonbridge lost for the second time in four days as 10-man Salisbury came from behind to take all three points at Longmead on Tuesday.
Two goals in four second-half minutes from Jamie White won the game for City and the result leaves Angels bottom of the embryonic Blue Square Bet South table.
Looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat at Maidenhead, Tonbridge went ahead on 34 minutes. Frannie Collin, scorer of a memorable goal in the same fixture last season, added another to his collection with a curling shot which found the top corner.
On the stroke of half-time, Salisbury had Stuart Sinclair sent off. After catching Rory Hill with a late tackle, Sinclair appeared to stamp on the midfielder and he was given his marching orders.
The home side had chances to put the game to bed after the restart but failed to take any of them.
Suddenly, Salisbury were in the ascendancy as Angels failed to make their man-advantage tell. White equalised with 20 minutes remaining and then put the visitors in front soon after.
Tonbridge were fortunate not to fall further behind when the visitors hit the inside of the post. An injury to Tom Davis, after Angels boss Tommy Warrilow, above, had made his final substitution, meant that both sides finished with 10 men.
Still looking for their first point of the season, Tonbridge hosts local rivals Welling United on Saturday.
