Two goals from George Purcell helped Tonbridge to their first win of the season at the expense of Boreham Wood.
Purcell opened the scoring on six minutes, producing a neat finish at the near post after Rory Hill had burst to the byline and whipped in a dangerous cross.
Two minutes later, Purcell doubled his tally, running onto a long ball and sliding the ball past Wood goalkeeper James Russell.
The Angels looked in control but the visitors were awarded a penalty midway through the half when Cliff Akurang threw himself to the floor under Olly Schulz’s challenge. Omer Riza scored the spot-kick to halve the deficit.
On 68 minutes, David Hutton’s back-post header brought Boreham Wood level. Straight from the restart, though, Tonbridge won a free-kick and Frannie Collin curled a brilliant effort over the wall and in via the base of the post.
Tonbridge goalkeeper Lee Worgan (pictured), making his 200th appearance for the club, pulled off a number of key saves as time ticked away. Lee Browning made sure of the points with a minute to go, lifting the ball over Russell in a crowded penalty area.
Tommy Warrilow’s side have climbed to 16th in Blue Square Bet South. Their next game is Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round clash away to Dover Athletic.
