Tommy Warrilow has hailed Paul Booth’s goals as a big reason for Tonbridge Angels’ three successive wins which have hoisted them up to mid-table in the Ryman League Premier Division.

The 33-year-old striker has hit five in four games, including two in the 3-0 win at Margate on Tuesday night and Tonbridge boss Warrilow said: "When Carl Rook was with us we had two quality strikers, but Paul is the main man now. He has got the spring back in his step, is reaping the rewards, and finishing clinically.

"He had his best game for ages the other night, worked so hard, and he is pure class when it comes to finishing."

Warrilow (pictured) has always backed his team to come good after a lean spell that saw them drop into the bottom four for a couple of weeks.

He said: "People moaned that the results haven’t been good enough, but now we’re doing what we are capable of and need to sustain it.

"The league is so tight though and a couple of poor results could see us down the bottom again."

After needing a hospital check-up after suffering concussion on his debut at Carshalton, Meshach Nugent made another trip to hospital after suffering a shin injury in a heavy challenge on Tuesday. Scott Kinch and Marc Cumberbatch are also doubts for the trip to Hendon tomorrow (Saturday).

Meanwhile former Charlton youngster Sam Long - who scored at Margate - has committed himself to the club, and Warrilow plans to talk to him in the near future.

Long (19), who lives at Darenth, trained with Gillingham during pre-season and had a trial with Conference side Histon, before arriving at Longmead Stadium.
