Tommy Warrilow believes getting back to basics was key behind a much-needed 2-1 Blue Square Bet South victory at Dorchester last Saturday.

Having seen his side concede eight goals in two games, the Tonbridge boss (pictured) recalled Ben Judge in a defensive shake-up and was pleased with the response.

He said: "I had a long chat with the boys and told them to look at themselves. They are all quality players but we had to stop making sloppy mistakes and mark properly.

"Gary Elphick just grew into the game as it went on. He hasn’t had much football and his season is just starting. I knew it would takes him a few games to settle in and we are seeing that.

"It took us four hours to get there, it was a windy day and a boggy pitch but we just dug in and grinded out a result. I was delighted for everybody but especially the defence."

Tonbridge’s win lifted them to 16th in the table, and they travel to fourth-placed Staines on Saturday.
