Tonbridge manager Tommy Warrilow says some of his under-performing players have been given "a stay of execution" ahead of his side's trip to Thurrock.

Warrilow, pictured, ran out of patience after watching his leaky defence concede another five goals in last Saturday’s home defeat by Farnborough.

He said: "I don’t think major surgery is required, but I’ve got to do something. I’m going to have to ship a few people out in order to free up some money.

"I have made approaches for a couple of players at Blue Square Bet South clubs but, because of the seven-day rule, nothing can happen before the weekend so some (of the squad) have been given a stay of execution."

Goals would seem to be guaranteed on Saturday, with Thurrock and Tonbridge having conceded a combined total of 38 in just seven matches.

The Essex club are the only side in Blue Square Bet South to have let in more goals than the Angels.

Warrilow may be able to recall defender Ben Judge after a back spasm, while midfielder Tim Olorunda will be in the squad despite playing for Maidstone on a dual registration in their 1-0 Ryman League, Division 1 South win over Sittingbourne on Wednesday.
