Tommy Warrilow hopes to sign two new players before Tonbridge’s Ryman League Premier Division trip to fellow strugglers Carshalton tomorrow (Saturday).
The Surrey club sacked their manager Francis Vines this week, after only four months in the job, while Billericay’s 3-1 win at Margate on Tuesday put Angels back in the bottom four.
Another new signing ex-Dover forward Jerahl Hughes made his debut on the bench in the 4-1 home defeat by Dartford last Saturday.
Warrilow, who released Akwasi Edusei earlier this week, said: "I hope to sign one striker and bring in another on-loan. I had a deal for another player lined up and thought it was 90 per cent done, only for him to have a change of heart but I’m more confident about this one."
The Angels board issued a statement expressing surprise that a mystery potential investor wanted to take over the club, pledging to re-develop the ground and provide £20,000 towards the playing budget.
Warrilow said: "I’m surprised something like this has been made so public but I think it has only brought the present board and management closer together."
Warrilow, who met chairman Steve Churcher after the game against Dartford, hopes that Edusei’s departure is the last.
Kirk Watts is suspended, and Sonny Miles unavailable against Carshalton but skipper Anthony Storey and John Heath return.
