Top seed Alan Clyne powered to the Kent Open squash title with a straight games victory over surprise finalist Jonathan Harford in the climax of the $10,000 PSA World Tour event at The Mote Squash Club.
The Scot, pictured, won 11-8, 11-3, 11-8 to win the inaugural PSA One Star tournament.
The 23-year-old world No.62 from Edinburgh dominated the front half of the court and whenever his 26-year-old rival from Birmingham played anything loose or short, the Scotsman pounced on the ball and won a succession of points with his killer drop shots.
"I was pleased with the way I played all week," said Clyne, who will soon begin training for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
"The courts here at The Mote are excellent and everyone at the club made us welcome. I’m sure all the players will look forward to coming back next year."
Mote locals Jonny Powell and James Evans, plus Rodmersham’s Neil Baker, gained valuable experience in the qualifying competition while wildcard Steven London, from Park Langley, succumbed to Irishman John Rooney in the first round of the main draw.
