Properties in a town centre suffered a power cut when an underground electricity cable faulted on a high voltage network.

The blackout in Maidstone Town Centre was reported to UK Power Networks at 1.35am on Monday before engineers worked to fix the problem.

Some homeowners still experienced problems when they woke up but were advised to reset their trip switches.

The power cut was reported to have been fixed by 4am.
