An elderly pedestrian has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in a town centre.
King Street in Maidstone was shut in both directions while emergency services were at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “Kent Police were called just before 10.40am on Thursday after a vehicle collided with a pedestrian in King Street, Maidstone.
“Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, where a man in his 80s was flown to a London hospital for treatment to injuries believed to be serious.
“A woman in her 70s was also taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries.”
It is understood the air ambulance landed in Mote Park.
The accident happened between Church Street and Queen Anne Road.
Access to King Street was blocked and it remained closed for at least two hours.
Bus company Arriva warned it was unable to pick passengers up in the High street and they should go to the Chequers bus station instead.
