King Street, Maidstone partially closed for nearly a week for UK Power Network repairs

Part of a town centre street is closed for almost a week.

Access to King Street, Maidstone is limited while UK Power Network carries out utility repair and maintenance works.

It has been closed at the junction of Queen Anne Road since Saturday (August 3) evening.

Restrictions are set to remain in place until the works are scheduled to be completed on Friday (August 9).

Shoppers wanting to access The Mall’s car park will need to go the long way round and enter from the other end of the road.

Stagecoach has warned bus routes are also being affected by the closure.

The 10X to Ashford will only serve as far as Haynes Garage and the X3 from Canterbury will only travel up to Albion Place.

A spokesperson for UKPN said: “Engineers are carrying out repairs to a piece of equipment on the underground network in King Street, Maidstone, to maintain reliable power supplies for local homes and businesses.

“In order to safely complete this work, a temporary road closure is in place on a section of King Street between August 3 and 9.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will complete the work sooner if possible.”
