New signage has gone up and construction workers have been spotted inside a town’s third Greggs.
The popular bakery chain is set to open another store in Week Street, Maidstone, this Saturday (August 19).
The firm previously announced it would be opening eight new stores across the country within the next two months.
One of the chosen locations was revealed to be Week Street, but at the time it was not known where exactly it would be based.
The new branch has now moved into the unit formerly home to Monsoon and Accessorize.
It is set to open this weekend and will create 12 new jobs for the local area.
Construction workers can be seen inside the building, with a number of new fixtures and fittings being installed. Old signage from the fashion and jewellery shops still remains on the windows.
In June 2020, the retailer announced it was to close stores in Canterbury, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells after the business entered administration.
However, it bounced back after Covid and still has three branches in Kent – including Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and Dartford.
Maidstone has welcomed a number of fast-food joints in recent years, taking on a Wendy’s and a Taco Bell.
Located between two empty units once owned by Game and Dorothy Perkins, the new Greggs will sit just metres away from another store in King Street.
‘We’ve got an amazing range of tasty bakes, hot drinks, sweet treats and savouries available...’
The second is also nearby, inside The Mall shopping centre.
Shop manager, Annastella Charles Baligeya said: “We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop.
“We’ve got an amazing range of tasty bakes, hot drinks, sweet treats and savouries available for takeaway or click and collect.”
The shop will be open daily from 6am to 6pm.
