A fast growing independent toy retailer is set to open its first Kent Branch at a shopping centre this morning.
Toytown is opening its doors on the first floor of The Mall in Maidstone at 10am.
The chain was founded in Belfast in 1980 and has since grown to become one of the largest independent toy retailers in the UK.
Marketing manager Sharon Barbour told KentOnline: “It’s a great location and there’s been a big buzz about the opening.
“A toy shop is needed in the area and we’ve had great support so far.
“We offer full toy ranges, we have big brand names and also good bargains all year round.
“We do have a small nursery range in store as well, so strollers and things like that.”
The new location has created seven new jobs in the area, and this is the chain’s first Kent branch.
Sharon explained: “Many years ago we did have a space in a department store in Canterbury.
“Maidstone is a new area for us to branch into, and on our launch day we’re having a Lego Harry Potter event, and have a TY character coming at 2pm.”
