A gloomy morning continues for motorists as traffic has built up on roads in and out of Maidstone.

The usual rush hour queues worsened as congestion has been reported around some of town's busiest roads.

Incidents included an accident on A229 Blue Bell Hill which blocked one lane of the carriageway.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident which occurred at around 8am.

No injuries were reported. The lane is now cleared, however, long delays remain in place.

The A20 Maidstone Road and A249 Sittingbourne Road had a number of vehicles backed up as the usual rush hour traffic piled in and out of the town.

There was also congestion Londonbound on the M20 carriageway between junctions 4-5.

Issues on the roads are reported to have been cleared, yet motorists are still advised to allow for extra time in their journeys.
