Traffic is on the move after being held on the M20 amid reports of a man “covered in blood”.
There were delays of an hour in both directions from Junction 7 for the A249 Maidstone and Junction 8 for the A20 Ashford Road for Leeds Castle.
The road was closed shortly after midday and there were miles of congestion.
Witnesses have posted on social media about seeing a man “covered in blood”.
One tweeted: “An Eastern European guy covered in blood just tried getting in my car saying he had been beaten up.
“He was just casually walking down the middle of the motorway.”
Another added: “Same happened to me. Was very confused as to what was going on but had the foresight to lock all the doors when we saw him approaching.”
A police spokesman confirmed officers were called following concern for a man seen between Junctions 7 and 8 of the M20 near Maidstone at 11.45am.
“Emergency services attended and the man was located with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening,” he said.
“He has been passed into the care of healthcare professionals.”
The motorway was closed in both directions while the incident was responded to and reopened by 1.30pm.
