Armed police were called to an “incident” at a railway station which disrupted services.
Officers from the British Transport Police were called to New Hythe at around 6pm on Friday (February 21) to reports of a possible firearm being seen on a train.
They attended, alongside armed police, and following an extensive search of the station, platform and train no weapon was located.
Inquiries are ongoing.
Southeastern could not run trains between Strood and Maidstone West and the line was closed at 6.40pm but had reopened by 7.15pm.
However, some services were delayed or revised as disruption was expected until 8.30pm.
In a statement, the firm said: “Lines have now reopened following the police dealing with an incident at New Hythe.

“However, whilst service recovers, trains running between Strood and Maidstone West may be cancelled or revised.”
