Travellers have moved onto a town-centre park.

Council officials have visited Gatland Lane Park in Maidstone, where a series of caravans have pitched up.

Officers have carried out welfare checks and are preparing to serve an enforcement notice which will ask the group to leave within 24 hours.

They are also investigating whether some members of the camp have already been issued with a court order, in which case they would be asked to leave immediately.

The camp comes two months after a band of travellers pitched up at the site.
