Travellers have set up camp in a town centre car park.

Around nine caravans and motor homes moved on to the short-stay Medway Street site overnight.

Police were called out at 6.40pm but no crimes were found to have taken place.

The travellers had moved on by Wednesday, but it is not yet known if enforcement action had been taken to remove them.

KentOnline has contacted Maidstone Borough Council, which is responsible for the car park, for comment.
