Travellers have set up camp on a recreation ground in Maidstone.

Six caravans and a lorry have been moved onto the green in Brishing Lane, Park Wood.

Police were called after they arrived just after 5.30pm this evening.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a reported traveller incursion in Brishing Lane, Parkwood, at 5.35pm on Friday 10 June.

"There were reported to be six caravans and one lorry at the scene.

"The matter will be dealt with by the landowner, as is standard procedure."
