Maidstone Mediation Scheme pay tribute to Dave Currer after fatal motorbike accident

Tributes continue to pour in for a Maidstone biker who was tragically killed last week.

Fifty-year-old Dave Currer died after colliding with a car on the A274 Headcorn Road near Biddenden on Tuesday, December 1.

Since his death friends and colleagues have described a generous and well-respected 'gentleman biker' who went above and beyond to help others.

Mr Currer, also known as DC, volunteered with several support and rehabilitation groups including Alcoholics Anonymous.

He helped to organise the annual Green Fair held in Mote Park to promote environmental issues and was a volunteer with the Maidstone Mediation Scheme.

The scheme’s manager Kim Salisbury paid tribute.

She said: “David was a kind, giving, caring and worldly man. He had travelled all over the world even helping in Sri Lanka in the Tsunami relief.

“He was a wonderful volunteer who came to Maidstone Mediation in 2012.

“He came as a quiet earnest young man keen to be useful to the community.

“He was an avid learner, attending every training course we offered. He has helped so many people through mediation and anger management.

“David also delivered mindfulness training to schoolchildren. He was a humble man who wanted to make a difference and did.

“His loss to us and to the community is huge.”

Kent Police have said the 57-year-old driver of the Blue Mazda 3 car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been released on conditional bail until next February.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the crash or either of the vehicles just beforehand.

Anyone with information should call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538, quoting reference DH/203/15.
