Matt Ford cruised to an emphatic eight-shot victory at the PGA Southern Masters with some scintillating golf at West Malling.

The Marriott Tudor Park professional, pictured, stormed round the Hurricane course with rounds of 68, 65 and 66 for an 11-under-par total of 199.

"I just played flowing golf. It’s my first win of the year. I’ve had a second and two thirds with a couple of course records, which is nice, but you need to be winning," said Ford.

"I putted well, hit the ball straight and my iron play was good. Everything was solid."

Ford admits his first win of 2009 has given his game a massive confidence boost as he prepares to try to earn his European Tour card at qualifying school.
