Two arrested after purse stolen at supermarket

A 33 year old woman and a 65 year old man have been arrested on suspicion of theft after a handbag was taken from a woman at Morrisons in St Saviour’s Road, Maidstone.

The incident happened at about 1.15pm on Wednesday, December 17, when the victim left her bag unattended on her chair, while in the café area of Morrisons.

The pair have been bailed pending further enquiries to Maidstone police station on January 18.

Police recently launched a campaign warning shoppers to be on guard after a wave of purse-snatchings. There have been more than 60 such incidents in Maidstone since the start of October.
