Detectives investigating the suspected murder of a 21-year-old-man in Tovil have arrested two people.

Homeless Razvan Sirbu was found dead at the Loose Valley Conservation Area at 7.15am on Sunday, by two dog walkers.

On Wednesday, after results from a post-mortem examination revealed he had died from blunt force trauma to the head and body, a murder investigation was launched.

Yesterday evening detectives arrested two people on suspicion of murder, an 18-year-old man near Aylesham and a 19-year-old man in Maidstone.

Both suspects are from the Maidstone area. They remain in custody.

Police remain in Woolage village near Canterbury today and have taped off a field while they investigate.

An inquest into Mr Sirbu's death was opened and adjourned at Archbishops' Palace today.

It heard he was born in Romania, and was single and unemployed when he died.

On Tuesday, as the cordon was lifted, people began to leave flowers at the scene of the tragedy.

Maureen Williams, who lives close by, was one of the first to visit to lay flowers.

Fighting back tears, she said: “It’s an absolutely terrible thing to have happened. We can only hope the young man had found some solace in our beautiful valley.”
