Two Kent castles are in the top 10 of best loved castles in the UK, it's been revealed.
Leeds and Dover castles were both among the favourite castles voted for in a poll commissioned by TV on-demand service UKTV Play to launch The Castle Collection - a selection of programmes celebrating a range of shows featuring castles.
Top favourite was the Queen's home, Windsor Castle.
The ancient royal residence in Berkshire is believed to be the Queen's favourite home. It is where she chose to celebrate her 90th birthday on April 21.
Dover Castle also had a special place in the nation's affections - coming in fifth.
Founded in the 11th century, it has been described as the "Key to England" due to its defensive significance throughout history. It is the largest castle in England.
Leeds Castle polled an impressive seventh place in the battle for battlements.
Dating back originally to 1119, it became a favourite home of Edward I in the 13th century.
In the 16th century, Henry VIII used it as a home for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.
The castle today dates mostly from the 19th century and is built on islands in a lake. It has been open to the public since 1976.
