Two police officers attacked in Maidstone town centre Medway Street car park

Two police officers have been attacked in Maidstone town centre.

One officer suffered a tear to his ear that needed hospital treatment.

The assaults happened after a a police patrol stopped to speak to two men and a woman in the Medway Street car park at around 11.40pm on Saturday, November 6.

As the two constables sought to search one of the men, they were assaulted by all three members of the group and by another man who arrived at the scene.

Both officers suffered facial bruising and one had a cut to his arm.

A 19-year-old woman from Maidstone was arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed to return to the police station on December 3.

Det Insp Richard O’Toole of Maidstone CID said: "The car park was busy at the time of the incident and we are urging witnesses or anybody with information that may assist us to contact our appeal line."
