Queues into Maidstone built up this afternoon after a truck overturned on the A249 Sittingbourne Road.
Police closed the road around 5.35pm, eventually re-opening just before 7pm.
It is believed there was an earlier crash on the road, involving a Rover and a Ford and it is possible the truck could have swerved to avoid the accident, before toppling over.
Passing motorists were late able to drive round the stricken vehicle. But tailbacks had built up to Holland Road, in Maidstone and back to the Newnham Court area, near junction 7 of the M20.
