Hundreds of Kent singletons have broken a world record and
raised more than £2,500 for charity.

Exactly 260 lonely hearts met at the Ramada Jarvis hotel in
Maidstone to beat the world speed-dating record, which was
organised by Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

The previous record was held in Germany with 252 people.

Demelza's Hayley Richardson was certain she saw sparks flying at
the event on Friday.

She said: "I could just feel the love in the air! I think
there's a fair few people who won't be lonely this Valentine's
Day."
