POLICE in Maidstone say they are determined to crack down on motorists who break the speed limit while driving in rural areas.
It is part of a Safer Summer Campaign operating across the county.
The issue has been highlighted in recent PACT (Partners And Communities Together) meetings and the police are responding by stepping up mobile speed traps in villages. eas.
Neighbourhood policing Sergeant, Mick Hayes, said: “Speeding in rural regions has been identified as a problem and we are committed to targeting motorists who break the speed limits in these areas.
"We will be taking measures to combat this and I send out a warning to drivers using rural roads to stick to the speed limit or they could face a fine of £60 and three points on their licence.”
